Pick the airports, the airline that operated the flight and what happened. The result sits in the address, so a copied link opens the same answer.

How the calculator decides
- It measures the great circle distance between the two airports.
- It checks each rule set against the departure airport, the arrival airport and the airline’s license. See rules.
- It tests the delay (3 hours or more at the final destination) or the cancellation notice.
- It reads the reason you give. It never decides whether circumstances were extraordinary.
Questions about the calculator
Which airline should be selected?
The airline that operated the flight, not the one that sold the ticket. On a codeshare or a wet lease the boarding pass or the flight status page names the operating airline.
What goes in for a trip with a connection?
On one booking, enter the first departure airport and the final arrival airport, and the operating airline of the delayed leg. See connecting flights.
Are the flight details sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. We record only coarse ranges, never the airports, the flight number or the date.
Does Hours Late decide whether the airline owes you?
No. It shows what the rules say on the details you enter. The airline decides first and, if you disagree, a national body or a court decides.
Information, not advice
Hours Late is not a law firm and not a claims company. It does not file claims for you. The results are estimates from published rules and the details you enter. They are not legal advice. Airlines and courts decide each case.
